A GUIDE TO BRAAMFONTEIN is conceived as an introduction to the rapidly developing suburb of Braamfontein. Property developers, academic and cultural institutions, galleries, shops and restaurants come together to create a culturally diverse and authentic urban environment that is driven by distinctive personalities working together.

This guide exists in two parts. The first is a printed map that serves as a useful guide to the area, highlighting some of the many attractions that are here. The second is a series of documentary videos by Lebogang Rasethaba and Liam Lynch that offer glympses into the lives of our current Braamfontein-ers. The videos can be accessed on mobile devices by scanning the QR codes positioned in the relevant locations around Braamfontein - grab a QR reading app and get scanning.

With the support of the University of the Witwatersrand Johannesburg the project will continue to expand as the area grows - bristling with the optimism of exciting times ahead.
