THE PARK

“Part of my drive to regenerate the city has been a solutions-based initiative to counter the city’s deficiencies. Instead of wallowing in all that doesn’t work, we pride ourselves in initiating, creating and doing – in other words – a showcase of considered private initiatives that help the greater good. The Park was an effort to take an abandoned piece of city land that had been the scourge of the area, and turn it into a beautiful, safe place.”

THE STORY

It plays host to artworks like the amazing lifesize taxi made from hangers by Gordon Fraud, a massive Play sculpture by Happy Dlamini, and beautiful metal trees by the Trinity Session. The rolling berm park with the iconic Mandela Bridge as its backdrop, is an oasis for people to visit in the city.
