FOUNDER OF PLAY
“I live by this quote on the wall of Play Braamfontein’s offices, ‘Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spend the rest of your life living like most people can’t.’”
After traveling the world in 2002, Adam Levy, inspired by some of the worlds most vibrant inner cities, returned to SA with a new vision – to transform Braamfontein into a world-class forward-thinking urban neighbourhood in Johannesburg, by bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together in a new aspirational, and inspirational environment of positive change.
So in 2003, Adam, an entrepreneur governed by passion, left law and founded Play, a name which underpins his vivid imagination and Peter Pan-esque wonderment, as he translated the images and ideas in his head and heart into a kaleidoscopic multi-faceted offering of beautiful buildings, multi cultural hubs and engaging experiences. All of which have made Braamfontein an iconic landmark in the cityscape of Joburg and a destination-must!
Influenced by his childhood lego-building masterpieces and his marathon Monopoly days, Adam’s natural affinity to create has dubbed him ‘The Prince of Property’ and the unofficial mayor of ‘Braamies’. This, together with his genuine sense of fun and adventure have inspired him to create considered spaces where people and ideas come together to encapsulate our collective human desire for delight and discovery, intervention and interaction, as well as a shared experience of playfulness.
