Fred Clarke was comissioned by Play (and sourced by Kalashnikov Gallery) to use public art to help revitalise previously uninviting, drab and dirty wallscapes into inspiring outdoor art galleries for the public to enjoy.

THE STORY

Frederick Clarke has breathed new life into Play’s 70 Juta Street Precinct with a vibrant mural titled, ‘Scales.’

Fred says, “This work was created in response to its location. The corner of De Beer and Juta Street is a hive of activity, day and night. The artwork is a reflection of the flow to people and activities of all walks and varieties, echoing the shoals of connection and expression in this eclectic city.”
